What’s happening: 2nd annual chili cook-off and cornbread competition! Nothing like some chili to get you looking forward to those cooler fall days so bring your best chili recipe, or your appetite, for some friendly competition amongst your fellow Paso Robles Democratic Club members, family, friends, and neighbors! This year we are also expanding to include a cornbread competition because nothing goes better with chili than cornbread!
What’s included: Unlimited chili and cornbread samples plus one glass of Lone Madrone wine or Bristols cider as well as soft drinks and ice tea. Each ticket includes three votes. One for best chili, one for best cornbread, and one for best spirit. Additional wine or cider can be purchased as well.
Chili and Cornbread Participation Rules:
- Open to the first 10 people to register their chili or the first 6 people to register their cornbread
- Three award categories this year with one prize awarded in each category so winner takes all:
- Crowd Favorite Chili – Chili can be any version including no beans, vegetarian, green, chicken, you name it. Be creative! Only homemade - No canned, store-bought or restaurant-bought chili. Minimum of 2 quarts of chili per entry.
- Best Cornbread – Sweet, savory, or spicy ... no judgements here until we taste it! All submissions need to be homemade but we won't tell anyone is you use a mix...it will be our little secret! Minimum of 9x9 pan or equivalent per entry.
- Best Chili Cook-off Spirit – All competitors are welcome to bribe (I mean encourage!) others to vote for them to include costumes, swag or spirited persuasion. You can also bring your friends and family so they can vote for you too.
Note: Lone Madrone will be selling additional wine and cider by the bottle or the glass. No tastings will be available during this event but feel free to come back later and try their amazing libations!
