PRDC President, Brett Knupfer, welcomed everyone and talked about how our work in Paso Robles, along with the work of other Democrats across our county and the Central Coast, has made the Central Coast an important player - along with Los Angeles Democratic Caucus and the San Francisco Bay Area Democratic Caucus - in policy development for California, a state that is the fourth largest economy in the world and provides leadership to other states and countries in the development of progressive policies.

Battalion Chief Fire Marshal Paul Patti spoke very thoughtfully about the our Fire Department's historical development and the current high-level of preparedness exemplified by the Department and the City's water infrastructure. His answers to our numerous questions were equally thoughtful and in-depth.

Paso Robles Juneteenth organizer, Juanetta Perkins encouraged everyone to come to the Juneteenth event downtown on Saturday. She provided historical information about Juneteenth's significance in American history, from both scholarly and personal points of view.  The need to stand firmly together as Americans is all too apparent in the face of the current and escalating attacks on our voting rights, our rights to representation, and our very history and identity as a nation.

Local Samaritans, Glenna Thompson and her colleagues Lisa and Kelly, spoke eloquently about the need for support that many immigrant families currently feel due to the Trump Administration's ongoing campaigns to harass, arrest, deport and terrorize them. They explained how these policies continue to put people in our communities at risk of family separation, emotional trauma and financial ruin. They highlighted the various ways that support can be provided. excellent music throughout the event!
